Overview

The Dr. Vogelgesang Klamm is the longest rock gorge in Upper Austria, carved by the Trattenbach stream. The path consists of a series of secure wooden walkways, bridges, and stairs bolted directly into the rock faces. Visitors traverse a total distance of 1.5 kilometers with an elevation gain of approximately 270 meters. The gorge is named after Dr. Moritz Vogelgesang, who was instrumental in its development for tourism in the early 20th century. Natural geological features include deep narrow limestone chasms and various cascading waterfalls. The trail terminates at the Bosruckhütte, a mountain hut offering refreshments and further hiking trail access. The terrain is characterized by high humidity and narrow passages where sunlight is limited.
