Overview

Syretskyi Dendropark is a 7.5-hectare protected arboretum established in the late 19th century by German florist Meyer. It serves as a scientific research base for the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The park features over 900 species of trees and shrubs, including rare varieties of thuja, spruce, and juniper. Its landscape design incorporates both formal European gardening elements and more naturalistic forest patches. The site functions as a living botanical collection rather than a standard recreational municipal park. It contains mature coniferous trees that provide a distinct microclimate compared to the surrounding urban areas. The grounds are maintained by the National Botanical Garden of Ukraine.
