Patta Fort, also known as Vishramgad, is a hill fort located in the Nashik district of Maharashtra at an elevation of approximately 4,500 feet. It served as a strategic military outpost during the Maratha Empire and was famously used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as a place of rest following the Battle of Salher, which is why it is often called Vishramgad. The fort is situated on the Kalsubai range and features a distinct plateau-like top. Visitors can view the remains of stone structures, including a temple dedicated to Goddess Pattai Devi. The site is part of the trekking route connecting to Aundha and Bitangad forts. The fortification walls are partially preserved, and the summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri mountain range. It is frequently accessed by trekkers through the village of Pattawadi.
The plateau edge overlooking the surrounding Sahyadri peaks near the northern fortification wall.
Carry at least three liters of water as there are no reliable potable sources on the plateau.
Wear high-grip trekking shoes, as the trail involves loose scree and steep rock sections.
Start the ascent early to avoid mid-day heat and complete the trek before sunset.
Avoid climbing during heavy monsoon rainfall due to the risk of slippery rock paths and low visibility.
Maintain the sanctity of the Pattai Devi temple and do not leave any waste on the fort premises.
