The lake serves as a water source for local durian and cocoa plantations in the surrounding highlands. It is located at an elevation of approximately 400 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the karst landscape and nearby village fields. The site was constructed to prevent soil erosion and manage water distribution for local farmers. It is part of the broader Nglanggeran Tourism Village area, which is recognized as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The reservoir is surrounded by rocky cliffs and volcanic boulders characteristic of the area's geological history. Visitors reach the lake via a paved inclined path from the parking area.
