Overview

The Benteng Heritage Museum is housed in a restored 18th-century Peranakan building, representing one of the oldest structures in the Tangerang area. It showcases the history and culture of the Cina Benteng people, an ethnic Chinese community who arrived in the region during the Dutch colonial era. The museum occupies a traditional shophouse located along the Cisadane River. Exhibits include authentic historical artifacts, including pottery, photographs, and traditional clothing, which illustrate the acculturation of Chinese and local Indonesian customs. The building features classic Chinese architecture, including intricate wood carvings and interior layouts typical of Chinese shophouses from the Qing dynasty period. It is currently one of the few remaining examples of heritage architecture in the Pasar Lama district.
