Overview

Troparevsky Landscape Reserve is a protected natural area in southwestern Moscow covering approximately 218 hectares. The landscape is dominated by a mixed forest, primarily consisting of spruce, linden, and birch trees. A central feature of the park is the Ochakovka River, which forms a series of cascade ponds used for recreation. The reserve serves as a habitat for various bird species, including hawks and owls, as well as small mammals. Paved walking paths and wooden boardwalks cross the wetlands and forested sections to provide accessibility while protecting the soil. An open-air stage and dedicated children’s playgrounds are integrated into the northern portion of the site. The topography is characterized by a rolling terrain resulting from the glacial history of the region.

Insider tips

Follow designated boardwalks in the wetland areas to avoid trampling sensitive vegetation and muddy ground.

Bring insect repellent during the summer months, as the forested areas and ponds attract mosquitoes.

Stick to the marked trails to observe local wildlife without causing disturbance.

What to avoid

Feeding the ducks and birds, as it disrupts the local ecosystem, and venturing off-path after heavy rain when the trails become extremely muddy.

Etiquette

Keep pets on a leash, dispose of waste in provided bins, and refrain from picking flowers or disturbing wildlife.
