Overview

Sengokuhara Susuki Grass Fields consist of extensive mountainside meadows covered in Miscanthus sinensis, also known as Japanese silver grass. The fields are recognized as one of the '50 Scenic Spots of Kanagawa.' Each year, the vegetation is cut back in a traditional controlled burn known as 'Yamayaki' to maintain the meadow ecosystem and prevent forest encroachment. A wooden pathway extends through the center of the grass fields, providing a defined route for pedestrians. The fields undergo a color transition from green in summer to a golden-beige hue as the grass matures in autumn. The site is situated at the base of Mount Daigatake, forming part of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park region. The grass reaches heights of over two meters, creating a tall, dense landscape that obscures the surrounding ground level.
