Overview

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Gadhada is one of the six original mandirs established by Bhagwan Swaminarayan, who spent nearly 30 years of his life here. The temple is situated on a hill overlooking the Ghela River. The primary shrine houses the idols of Gopinathji Maharaj, which were consecrated by Bhagwan Swaminarayan himself in 1828. The site is a primary pilgrimage center for the Swaminarayan Sampraday. The current stone structure serves as a significant expansion and reconstruction of the original site where Bhagwan Swaminarayan resided and held religious assemblies. The temple complex includes spaces for meditation, prayer, and historical exhibitions related to the founder’s life. It maintains a strictly traditional aesthetic reflecting regional Hindu architectural styles.
