Overview

Liuchiu Yu Lighthouse, also known as the White Lighthouse of Lambai Island, is a cylindrical concrete structure standing 11 meters tall on the southern tip of Xiaoliuqiu. Built in 1929 during the Japanese colonial period, it serves as a navigational beacon for ships passing through the Taiwan Strait. The lighthouse emits a flashing white light every eight seconds to guide vessels safely past the island's treacherous coral reefs. Unlike many lighthouses in Taiwan, it is constructed entirely of reinforced concrete and painted white to remain highly visible against the island's greenery. The site offers an elevated vantage point overlooking the surrounding ocean and the rugged terrain of Liuqiu Township. It is a government-managed facility and is maintained as a historical landmark of Pingtung County.
