Overview

7 Tombs Park, also known as the Qutb Shahi Tombs, consists of a necropolis housing the funerary monuments of seven Qutb Shahi rulers who governed the Golconda Sultanate. The site features a distinctive synthesis of Persian, Pashtun, and Hindu architectural styles, characterized by onion-shaped domes and intricate stonework. Spread over a large garden complex, the structures are built primarily from granite and lime mortar. Several tombs are double-storied, featuring galleries and ornate arches, while others remain single-storied. The area is maintained as an archaeological park under the guidance of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. It functions as both a historical site and a public green space within the Toli Chowki region of Hyderabad.

Insider tips

Wear slip-on shoes for convenience, as you will need to remove them frequently to enter the interiors of the various tombs.

Carry a hat or umbrella, as the park features vast open stone plazas with limited shade during mid-day.

Bring a camera with a wide-angle lens to capture the scale of the larger dome structures.

What to avoid

Avoid visiting during the peak afternoon heat, as the dark granite stones absorb sunlight and significantly increase ambient temperatures.
