Iera Moni Osiou Grigoriou is an 18th-century Athonite monastery perched on a rocky cliff directly above the Aegean Sea on the southeastern coast of the Athos Peninsula. It is the 17th monastery in the hierarchical order of the twenty sovereign monasteries of Mount Athos. The current catholicon was constructed in 1768 and features significant frescoes painted by monks in 1779. It serves as a cenobitic monastery, meaning monks share a communal life with property held in common. The monastery maintains a library containing 297 manuscripts and thousands of printed books. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra. Access to the monastery is restricted to males holding a formal permit to enter the Mount Athos monastic state.
