Overview

Rezső-kilátó is a stone-built observation point located on the Predikálószék ridge in the Danube Bend region of Hungary. It stands at an elevation of approximately 550 meters, providing an unobstructed perspective of the Danube river's characteristic horseshoe bend. The structure is named after Rezső Thirring, a prominent Hungarian geographer and mountain climber. The vantage point is integrated into the national blue hiking trail network. It offers views extending towards the Visegrád Castle and the Börzsöny mountains on the opposite riverbank. The area is situated within the Duna-Ipoly National Park boundaries. It is accessible only via forest trails as there is no direct road vehicle access to the site.

Insider tips

Wear sturdy hiking boots, as the approach involves steep, uneven, and often slippery forested terrain.

Carry sufficient water and snacks, as there are no amenities or vendors at the summit.

Check weather reports specifically for the Danube Bend, as conditions at the summit can be significantly windier and colder than in the valley.

What to avoid

Attempting the ascent in rainy weather, as the trails become muddy and dangerous; relying solely on mobile GPS, as forest canopy can interfere with signal.

Etiquette

Practice 'Leave No Trace' principles; do not litter in the forest, and keep noise levels low to protect local wildlife.
