Overview

Baturraden is a mountain resort area located on the southern slopes of Mount Slamet, the second-highest volcano in Java. The site is defined by its natural hot springs, which are rich in sulfur and utilized in public bathing pools believed to possess healing properties. The area features the Pancuran Pitu, a series of seven hot springs flowing directly from the mountain, and Pancuran Telu. Several waterfalls, including Curug Ceheng, are situated within the proximity of the main recreation complex. The climate is notably cooler than the surrounding lowlands due to its elevation, typically ranging between 700 and 1,000 meters above sea level. The botanical gardens, Kebun Raya Baturraden, cover 143 hectares and specialize in the flora of the Mount Slamet ecosystem. Visitors can access diverse topography ranging from dense forest trails to engineered water parks. The area serves as a primary hub for ecotourism in the Banyumas Regency.
