Overview

The Zaraysk Water Tower is a historic red-brick industrial structure built in 1912 by the engineer Ilyin. Standing 29 meters tall, the tower served as the primary water supply system for the city for several decades. It underwent a major restoration project in 2016 to preserve its neo-Gothic and eclectic architectural features. Today, the tower functions as a cultural and tourism hub, housing an observation deck that provides panoramic views of the Zaraysk Kremlin and the historic city center. The interior space is utilized for rotating art exhibitions, local craft displays, and educational workshops. Visitors can explore the preserved original brickwork and iron staircases that characterize the structure's industrial heritage. It serves as one of the few surviving examples of pre-revolutionary hydraulic engineering in the Moscow Oblast region.
