Overview

Dar Pomorza is a historic full-rigged sailing ship permanently moored in Gdynia's harbor as a museum branch of the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk. Built in 1909 by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg as Prinzess Eitel Friedrich, the vessel served as a training ship for the German Merchant Marine before becoming the White Frigate of the Polish Merchant Marine in 1929. The ship logged over 500,000 nautical miles, including a circumnavigation of the globe between 1934 and 1935. It ceased active training service in 1981 and transitioned to its role as a museum ship. Visitors can explore the captain's quarters, the engine room, the galley, and the crew's sleeping quarters. The ship features an intact interior reflecting early 20th-century maritime life and training standards. It serves as a static monument to the development of Polish maritime education. The hull maintains its original dimensions and layout, providing insight into the construction of merchant training vessels from the early 1900s.
