The G B Pant High Altitude Zoo is situated at an elevation of 2,100 meters above sea level, making it one of the few high-altitude zoological parks in India. It serves as a conservation center specifically for Himalayan wildlife species. The zoo is managed by The Bharat Ratna Pt. Govind Ballabh Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society. It specializes in the captive breeding and rehabilitation of endangered mountain fauna. The facility is integrated into the steep, forested hillside terrain of Sher-Ka-Danda. It houses several rare species, including the snow leopard and the Tibetan wolf. The park operates as an educational and research-oriented facility focused on mountain ecosystem preservation.
