Overview

The State Chateau of Hluboká is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic landmark inspired by England's Windsor Castle. It stands on the site of a 13th-century royal castle, which was fundamentally reconstructed by the Schwarzenberg noble family. The exterior features white masonry, elaborate stone carvings, and 11 distinct towers. The interior retains original 19th-century furnishings, an extensive collection of historical weapons, and a notable wood-carved library. The structure includes 140 rooms and a large English-style park spanning approximately 30 hectares. The castle transitioned from a military fortification to a luxurious residential seat following successive Baroque and Romantic architectural modifications. It is currently managed by the National Heritage Institute of the Czech Republic.
