Overview

Landscape reserve Teply Stan is a significant protected natural area in Moscow covering approximately 300 hectares. The terrain is defined by the Teply Stan Upland, which is the highest geographical point in Moscow at 253 meters above sea level. It features a diverse landscape including old-growth forests, open meadows, and deep ravines formed by the Ochakovka River. The reserve is home to several species of plants and animals listed in the Moscow Red Data Book. It serves as a biological corridor connecting various urban green spaces in the southwestern administrative district. The area contains historical sites, including remnants of the Troparëvo village and ancient burial mounds (kurgans). Natural springs, most notably the 'Cold Spring,' are located within the ravine system and are frequently visited by locals. The reserve is managed by the Mospriroda agency to preserve local biodiversity while providing recreational trails. It remains a rare example of preserved deciduous forest ecosystems within the Moscow city limits.
