Overview

The Water Milling Museum in Kolárovo is home to a functional floating water mill, the last of its kind in Slovakia, situated on a dead branch of the Little Danube River. The museum features a specialized technical collection documenting the history of milling in the region. Visitors reach the structure via an 86-meter-long wooden bridge, which holds the distinction of being the longest covered wooden bridge in Central Europe. The site also functions as an open-air museum preserving local folk architecture and agrarian history. The current mill is a replica built in 1982, modeled after the original 1920 Radvaň nad Dunajom mill. The premises include a mini-zoo, a museum of agricultural machinery, and a designated outdoor hearth for public use. The site is maintained to honor the technological heritage of the Žitný ostrov region.
