Overview

Klucanina lookout is a 29-meter steel observation tower situated on the Klucanina hill at an elevation of 412 meters above sea level near Tišnov. Constructed in 2003, the tower features a primary viewing platform located at a height of 22 meters. Visitors must ascend 137 stairs to reach the summit, which offers panoramic views of the Svratka and Loučka river valleys. On clear days, visibility extends to the Pálava region and occasionally as far as the Austrian Alps. The structure replaced a former wooden lookout that existed on the same site during the early 20th century. It is built as an open steel frame, allowing for 360-degree visibility across the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The surrounding area consists of dense woodland trails accessible to hikers and cyclists. The tower remains a prominent landmark for the Tišnov region, characterized by its industrial steel lattice design.

Insider tips

Wear sturdy hiking boots as the paths leading up the hill are unpaved and can be muddy.

Bring binoculars to identify distant landmarks like the Pálava hills or the silhouette of the Alps.

Check local weather reports for wind speed, as the open steel structure can be very windy at the top platform.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to climb the tower during thunderstorms or high wind warnings due to its exposed steel construction.

Good to know

Open year-round, but access may be restricted during extreme winter weather if the stairs are iced over.
