Aliyar Dam Park is located at the base of the Aliyar Reservoir in the Anaimalai Hills of the Western Ghats. The park features a well-maintained garden, an aquarium, and a mini-theme park adjacent to the concrete gravity dam. The dam was constructed across the Aliyar River as part of the Parambikulam Aliyar Project for irrigation and power generation. The reservoir basin is surrounded by the dense forests of the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve. Visitors can access a dedicated viewpoint providing a panoramic look at the spillway and the surrounding mountain ridges. The park grounds include play areas for children and stone walkways through landscaped flower beds. Water from the reservoir is released through the dam gates, often creating a visible mist in the lower basin area.
