Jijabai passed away on June 17, 1674, shortly after the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad.
Pachad village, where the Samadhi is located, served as the base camp for the construction of Raigad Fort.
The site is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) as a protected monument.
