The initiative was founded by Jerzy Szczepaniak, a local sports activist and hotelier.
The first athlete honored on the alley was Polish track and field sprinter Irena Szewińska.
Over 150 bronze stars are currently embedded along the promenade.
The walkway leads directly to the primary pedestrian entry point for the Władysławowo beach.
Bronze plaques are crafted to include the athlete’s name, their primary sport, and the signature of the recipient.
Sports Stars Alley in Władysławowo is a public promenade featuring bronze stars embedded in the pavement to honor distinguished Polish and international athletes. Established in 2000, it is the first such project in Poland dedicated exclusively to sports history. The walkway connects the town center toward the entrance to the Baltic Sea beach. It features commemorative plaques for Olympic medalists, world champions, and legendary coaches across various disciplines. New stars are traditionally unveiled during annual summer ceremonies attended by the honorees. The site functions as an open-air museum accessible to the public throughout the year. It serves as a central hub for local sports-related festivals and cultural gatherings in the Pomeranian region.
Find the stars of your favorite athletes and capture a close-up shot of the bronze plaque set into the stone pavement.
Bring a camera to capture the detailed bronze engravings of your favorite athletes.
Visit during the annual summer unveiling ceremonies if you wish to see current sports stars in person.
Combine your visit with a walk to the nearby Baltic Sea coastline.
Avoid visiting during the height of the July and August tourist peak if you prefer a quiet experience, as the promenade becomes very crowded.
