Overview

Şenyuva Bridge is a historic single-arch stone bridge spanning the Fırtına River in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize. Constructed in 1696, it is the oldest stone bridge in the Fırtına Valley. The structure measures approximately 20 meters in length and stands about 15 meters above the water level. Built using local rubble stone, the bridge features a distinct semi-circular arch design intended to withstand the high-velocity water flow of the river. It historically served as a vital crossing for the surrounding villages and trade routes. Today, it remains open for pedestrian traffic and is a frequently visited landmark in the Rize province. The bridge is recognized as a protected cultural heritage site by the Turkish Ministry of Culture.

Insider tips

Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds from tour buses.

Walk across the bridge cautiously as the stone surface can be uneven and slippery when wet.

Bring a light jacket as the Fırtına Valley microclimate often brings cooler temperatures and humidity even in summer.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to park directly on the narrow approach road, as it blocks traffic; use the designated pull-offs nearby.
