Overview

Shen'ao Fishing Port Haitian Trail is a coastal walkway located in the Ruifang District of New Taipei City, built atop the seawall of Shen'ao Port. The trail offers an unobstructed, 270-degree panoramic view of the North Coast, including the distinctive Elephant Trunk Rock area and the northeastern headlands. It features a flat, paved path suitable for casual walking, connecting the active fishing port to the surrounding natural rock formations. The walkway provides a vantage point for observing commercial fishing boats and the rugged basalt geology of the coastline. It is integrated into the larger Shen'ao Rail Bike route network, serving as a recreational buffer between the industrial fishing zone and the natural landscape.

Insider tips

Bring a windbreaker even in summer, as the coastal winds on the elevated seawall are consistently strong.

Visit during low tide to observe the exposed intertidal zones and unique rock textures along the shoreline.

Carry sun protection, as the trail is entirely exposed with no overhead shade or natural cover.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to walk the trail during typhoon warnings or extreme high tide alerts, as wave spray frequently breaches the seawall.

Etiquette

Avoid climbing on the concrete wave-protection blocks as they are slippery and pose a significant fall risk.
