Overview

Muzey 'Shalash V.i. Lenina' is a Soviet-era historical memorial site located at the Razliv Lake in Sestroretsk. The museum commemorates the summer of 1917, when Vladimir Lenin hid from the Provisional Government in a makeshift straw hut while working on his political tract 'The State and Revolution'. The central feature of the site is a granite monument constructed in 1928, designed by architect A.I. Gegello. A replica of the original wooden hut is preserved under a protective structure near the shoreline. The site functions as a branch of the Razliv Museum and includes a permanent exhibition exploring the revolutionary events of 1917. The surrounding landscape consists of protected woodland area known as the Sestroretsky Razliv swamp preserve. It remains one of the few surviving ideological pilgrimage sites from the Soviet period still operating as an active cultural institution.
