Lac du Bouchet is a natural crater lake formed within a volcanic maar in the Velay region of the Massif Central. The lake basin measures 800 meters in diameter and reaches a maximum depth of 28 meters. Surrounded by a forest of pine and beech trees, the site is located at an altitude of 1,200 meters. The lake is protected as a classified natural site due to its unique geological history and ecological sensitivity. It is fed entirely by rainwater and underground springs, resulting in high water clarity. A peripheral path allows visitors to circle the entire perimeter of the lake on foot.
