The Millennium Lookout, situated on the Kalapat-tető plateau in the Bükk Mountains, is a 36-meter-high timber and stone tower constructed to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian state. It stands at an elevation of approximately 600 meters above sea level within the Bükk National Park. The structure is built primarily from wood and stone, designed by architect Attila Gere. From its observation deck, visitors can view the Szalajka Valley, the surrounding Bükk plateau, and on clear days, the peaks of the High Tatras. Access to the lookout is restricted to foot traffic via hiking trails starting from the base of the valley. It serves as a navigational landmark for hikers traversing the Országos Kéktúra (National Blue Trail) section through the region.
The upper observation level provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the Bükk forest canopy.
Wear sturdy hiking boots, as the path to the summit is unpaved and can be slippery after rain.
