Overview

Pedra Bonita is a granite peak situated within the Tijuca National Park in Rio de Janeiro, reaching an elevation of 696 meters. It offers panoramic perspectives of the Atlantic Ocean, the São Conrado neighborhood, and the Pedra da Gávea monolith. The trailhead starts near the ramp used for hang gliding and paragliding take-offs. The trek to the summit is considered moderate, covering approximately 1.5 kilometers through the Atlantic Forest. It serves as a secondary, more accessible alternative to the more strenuous hike up Pedra da Gávea. The area is protected under the management of ICMBio as part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. The summit platform provides clear lines of sight to the Christ the Redeemer statue on clear days.
