The site spans 320 acres and includes a functioning general store, a one-room schoolhouse, a smithy, and various period-authentic dwellings. Staff often dress in historical costume to demonstrate traditional crafts and daily life tasks from the 19th century. The grounds contain woodland trails and picnic areas designed to illustrate rural Ontario history. It is operated by the Hamilton Conservation Authority. Several buildings are original structures moved from their historical sites to preserve local architecture.
