Surrounding the dam are numerous dirt trails and gravel tracks used extensively for hiking, mountain biking, and off-road driving. The area is situated in a basin surrounded by steep, arid mountain slopes typical of the Eastern UAE. It serves as a primary hub for outdoor recreation in the central Hajar range. There is no natural permanent lake, as water levels fluctuate significantly based on seasonal precipitation.
