Overview

Haulover Park is a 177-acre oceanfront recreational space situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. It features a marina with 150 slips and a direct outlet to the ocean via the Haulover Inlet. The park is geographically notable for hosting one of the few officially designated clothing-optional beach sections in the United States, located at the northern end of the shoreline. Its waterfront provides a launch point for deep-sea fishing charters and recreational boating. The park grounds include extensive kite-flying fields and designated picnic areas. The beach spans 1.5 miles of white sand dunes and is patrolled by Miami-Dade Ocean Rescue. The marina facility supports vessels up to 100 feet in length and provides fuel services. Parking is distributed throughout several lots connected to both the beach and the marina sectors.

Insider tips

Visit the northern end of the beach if you intend to utilize the clothing-optional area; otherwise, remain south of the designated markers.

Bring your own kite, as the consistent ocean breeze makes the central field one of the most popular spots for kite flying in South Florida.

Check the beach conditions at the lifeguard towers before entering the water, as the inlet can create strong rip currents.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to swim near the jetty or the inlet mouth due to unpredictable and powerful tidal currents.

Etiquette

Clothing is optional only in the specifically marked northern section of the beach; nudity is prohibited in all other park areas.
