Overview

Wielbłądzi Garb is the highest natural dune on the Vistula Spit, reaching an elevation of 49.5 meters above sea level. It serves as a unique vantage point offering simultaneous views of the Baltic Sea to the north and the Vistula Lagoon to the south. The site is part of the protected forested landscape within the Krynica Morska municipality. The lookout point provides a rare panoramic perspective of the narrow land bridge separating the two distinct water bodies. Geologically, it constitutes a massive sand dune stabilized by pine-dominated woodland vegetation. Visitors access the peak via marked nature trails winding through the coastal forest. The location remains largely undeveloped, maintaining its status as a natural observation site rather than a built structure. It is one of the few places in Poland where the curvature of the Spit is clearly observable.

The highest crest of the path where the forest clears sufficiently to frame both the Baltic Sea horizon and the Lagoon.

Insider tips

Wear comfortable, sturdy hiking shoes to navigate the sandy and uneven forest paths.

Bring insect repellent, as the forested area is prone to mosquitoes during summer months.

Use binoculars to better distinguish the navigation markers on the Vistula Lagoon.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to climb the steep dune slopes directly, as this damages the protective vegetation and causes sand erosion.

Etiquette

Stay on marked trails to prevent erosion of the protected dune structure.
