Overview

Boka Waterfall is Slovenia's highest waterfall by total vertical drop, measuring 144 meters in height and 18 meters in width. The waterfall is fed by a karst spring emerging directly from a vertical rock face, resulting in highly variable flow rates depending on precipitation. During spring snowmelt or heavy rainfall, the volume can reach 100 cubic meters per second, while it may significantly diminish during prolonged dry summer periods. The viewpoint provides a direct line of sight to the cascade across the valley. It is situated in the Julian Alps, specifically within the Bovec basin near the Soča River. The limestone cliffs surrounding the falls are prone to erosion, characteristic of the unique geological composition of the region.

Photo spot

The designated wooden viewing platform provides the most stable and unobstructed framing of the waterfall.

Insider tips

Bring binoculars to see the upper tier clearly from the viewpoint.

Wear sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes as the surrounding terrain is uneven and rocky.

Visit after a heavy rainfall to witness the waterfall at its most powerful peak flow.

What to avoid
