Overview

The Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy Góry Opawskie) is the easternmost extension of the Sudetes mountain range in Poland. It covers approximately 4,900 hectares of protected forest terrain, characterized by steep valleys and rolling hills. The highest peak within the Polish section of the park is Biskupia Kopa at 890 meters above sea level. The park is home to a diverse ecosystem, including beech and fir forests, and serves as a natural habitat for protected species like the fire salamander. A dense network of marked tourist trails connects the village of Jarnołtówek to the peak of Biskupia Kopa and the surrounding limestone crags. Geologically, the area is composed of metamorphic rocks, primarily phyllites and quartzites. The park provides habitat for the Eurasian eagle-owl and other birds of prey. It is managed by the Zespół Opolskich Parków Krajobrazowych, which oversees environmental education and trail maintenance.
