Overview

The Liberty Bridge (Most slobode) is a cable-stayed bridge spanning the Danube River in Novi Sad, connecting the city center with Sremska Kamenica. Designed by architect Nikola Hajdin, it was originally opened in 1981 and features a distinctive A-shaped pylon system. The structure was completely destroyed by NATO airstrikes in 1999 during the Kosovo War. Reconstruction efforts concluded in 2005, restoring the vital transport link to its original specifications. It serves as a major arterial route for commuters and provides pedestrians with elevated views of the river and the Petrovaradin Fortress.
