Overview

The Castle of Digoine is an 18th-century residence located in Palinges, Burgundy, renowned for its perfectly preserved neoclassical architecture. The estate is distinguished by its unique 19th-century private theater, which remains intact with original stage machinery and scenery. The surrounding 35-hectare park is landscaped in an English garden style and features a large lake and century-old trees. Napoleon I and Empress Josephine are recorded as historical guests of the estate. The current structure, built between 1750 and 1755, replaced a medieval fortress originally standing on the same site. The interiors showcase 18th and 19th-century furniture, porcelain collections, and extensive period decor. Visitors can access both the ornate residential salons and the external grounds.
