Overview

St Trillo’s Chapel is widely recognized as the smallest church in the United Kingdom, measuring only 11 by 8 feet. The structure dates back to the 6th century and is built directly over a natural freshwater spring known as Ffynnon Trillo. It is constructed from local limestone with walls approximately 2 feet thick. The interior features a simple stone altar and room for only six congregants at a time. The site is situated on the shoreline of Rhos-on-Sea, overlooking the Irish Sea. It remains an active place of worship with services held periodically. The holy well water was historically used for baptisms and is still accessible within the building.
