Overview

Kravica Waterfall is a large tufa cascade located on the Trebižat River in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. The falls reach a height of approximately 25 meters and form a semi-circular lake spanning roughly 120 meters in width. The water originates from underground karst springs, maintaining a cold temperature year-round. A natural limestone barrier creates the amphitheater-like shape of the waterfall. The site features a designated swimming area in the basin beneath the falls. Lush vegetation, including fig trees, poplars, and vines, surrounds the perimeter of the water. Visitors can access the area via a maintained gravel path or a tourist train during peak season. The waterfall remains one of the most significant hydro-geological monuments in the region.

Photo spot

The wooden walkway on the opposite side of the riverbank provides a panoramic view of the entire semi-circle of cascades.

Insider tips

Wear water shoes, as the riverbed near the shore is rocky and can be slippery.

Bring a waterproof bag for electronics, as the mist near the base of the falls is substantial.

Arrive early in the morning to secure a spot on the beach area before the site reaches full capacity.

What to avoid

Do not attempt to swim near the direct impact zone of the falling water due to strong currents and submerged rocks.

Good to know

The site remains open daily, though the tourist train shuttle operates primarily during the high tourist season.

Etiquette

Proper attire, such as shirts and footwear, is required when moving through the entrance and surrounding park facilities.
