The maze was inaugurated in 2017 after several years of growth and cultivation of the cypresses.
The total length of the internal paths is approximately 5,000 linear meters.
The site occupies an area equivalent to roughly 70 percent of a standard professional soccer field.
All hedges are manicured regularly to maintain a narrow, uniform wall structure.
The labyrinth is entirely comprised of living plant material with no stone or wood internal barriers.
Villapresente’s Labyrinth is the largest hedge maze in Spain, spanning 5,625 square meters. It features 5 kilometers of pathways enclosed by over 4,000 Monterey cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) trees. The labyrinth design creates a complex, winding route that can take between 30 and 90 minutes to complete depending on the navigator's ability. The hedges are maintained at a height of 2.5 meters to ensure visitors remain within the maze environment. The facility is located in the rural village of Villapresente in the municipality of Reocín. It was constructed as a private initiative to promote tourism in the Cantabria region. The design includes multiple dead ends and branching paths to increase the difficulty of the navigational experience.
From the elevated observation points located at the entrance or specific strategic corners where the full height of the hedges can be captured.
Wear sturdy, comfortable footwear suitable for gravel and dirt paths rather than sandals.
Check weather forecasts before visiting, as there is no overhead cover to protect against rain or direct sun.
Bring a bottle of water, as there are no refreshment points located inside the maze structure.
Attempting to navigate the maze without water or comfortable shoes, and assuming the exit is easily visible from the start.
Closed during the winter season; generally open from spring through early autumn, but operation is highly dependent on weather conditions.
Do not climb on the cypress hedges or attempt to cut through the foliage, as this damages the living walls.
