Overview

Nakanoshima Park is Osaka’s first public park, established in 1891 on a sandbank located between the Dojima and Tosabori rivers. The park spans approximately 10.6 hectares and serves as a central green lung within the city's Kita Ward business district. It houses the neo-baroque Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, which was designated an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Adjacent to the library is the Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, renowned for its significant collection of Chinese and Korean ceramics. The park is home to a dedicated rose garden that features approximately 3,700 rose bushes of over 300 different varieties. Its layout includes formal walkways, lawns, and waterfront promenades designed to integrate urban architecture with natural landscape elements. The park provides views of the surrounding high-rise skyline, including the Osaka City Hall located on the western end of the island.
