The Racoș Basalt Columns are a protected geological reserve in Brasov County, Romania, featuring vertical, hexagonal-shaped volcanic rock formations. Wear hiking boots with good grip as the terrain inside the quarry is uneven and loose.
Bring a hat and sunscreen as there is very little shade within the open quarry walls.
Check the stability of the terrain before climbing, as loose rocks are common near the base of the columns.
Do not attempt to scale the vertical columns, as the rock can be unstable and crumbly.
The site is publicly accessible throughout the year, but may become inaccessible during heavy snow or mud in late winter.
