Overview

Kamerlengo Castle is a 15th-century maritime fortress located at the southwestern tip of Trogir's island core. Constructed by the Republic of Venice between 1420 and 1437, it served as a strategic defensive stronghold for the Trogir channel. The structure consists of a polygonal outer wall, three corner towers, and a central keep, showcasing classic Venetian military architecture. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, the fortress underwent multiple preservation efforts to stabilize its stone masonry. Today, it operates as an open-air venue hosting various cultural events and musical performances. Visitors can access the upper parapets via narrow stone staircases to observe the surrounding Adriatic coastline. The castle remains one of the most well-preserved examples of medieval fortifications in Central Dalmatia.
