The park is located on the site of the former Uranus neighborhood, which was demolished in the early 1980s to make way for the Palace of the Parliament.
It covers an area of approximately 17 hectares, providing one of the few large open-air event spaces in central Bucharest.
The ground underneath the park was originally part of a hill that was leveled to create the massive platform for the surrounding administrative buildings.
Izvor Park is a prominent urban green space situated directly adjacent to the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest. The park occupies a large, flat area that was once part of the dense historical urban fabric cleared during the 1980s for the construction of the People's House project. It features expansive manicured lawns, paved pedestrian pathways, and basic children's play equipment. The site serves as a primary outdoor venue for major public festivals, outdoor concerts, and cultural events in the capital. It offers an unobstructed view of the western facade of the Palace of the Parliament. The park is managed by the Administration of Lakes, Parks and Recreation (ALPAB).
The elevated central pathways provide the best panoramic view of the Parliament Palace facade.
Bring sun protection, as the park is largely exposed with limited natural shade.
Check the local event calendar before visiting, as the park is often closed to the public during large concerts or festivals.
Avoid visiting during extreme heat waves in July and August due to the lack of tree cover.
The park may be restricted or closed to the public periodically to facilitate large-scale outdoor events and concerts.
Maintain noise levels during events and dispose of litter in designated bins.
