Overview

The Blauer Turm, or Blue Tower, serves as the primary landmark of the former Staufer imperial palace in Bad Wimpfen, Baden-Württemberg. Standing approximately 58 meters tall, it functioned historically as a watchtower and the residence of the tower guard. The stone structure dates back to the 13th century and features a wooden gallery atop the masonry base. Visitors can climb the internal staircase to the viewing platform for an expansive view of the Neckar River valley and the surrounding historic old town. The tower is the only remaining structure of the outer fortification of the Imperial Palace. It is integrated into the town's defensive walls, showcasing medieval military architecture from the Hohenstaufen period. The site currently remains open to visitors as a heritage landmark.
